The picturesque town of Malchow - also called the pearl of the Mecklenburg Lake District - lies in the centre of contrasting lakeland and woodland between Lakes Fleesen and Plau on the edge of Lake Malchow.

The town centre stands on an island and connects with the mainland over a causeway (built 1846) and a swing bridge. Malchow has long been a tourist attraction for its monastery and Laschendorf, Biesdorf and Lenz.

It offers a wide variety of leisure activities; hikers will appreciate the signed footpaths along the banks of the lake or though superb healthy conifer forests. All services for angling and water sports are also available.
